Marinated onions recipe with Chicken Nuggets

  • 4 red onions
  • 240 ml of water
  • 240 ml of wine vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons of palm sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of fresh thyme
  • ½ tablespoon of red chilli pepper flakes
  • salt and pepper to taste

Preparation method

  1. Mix the water, the vinegar, the sugar and 1 tablespoon of fresh thyme leaves and pour this mixture into an oven dish.

  2. Halve the onions (leave the skins on) and put them (cut side down) in the marinade. Keep covered and refrigerate for one night.

  3. Heat the oven to 200 degrees C.

  4. Turn the onions and sprinkle them with 1 tablespoon of olive oil, salt and pepper. Bake in the oven for about half an hour.

  5. Keep basting the onions with the marinade.

  6. Remove the onions from the oven dish and place them in a bowl.

  7. Put the left over marinade in the oven and leave to reduce for about ten minutes.

  8. Pour the thickened marinade over the onions and sprinkle with the left over thyme leaves and the red chilli pepper flakes.

  9. Prepare the Chicken Nuggets as stated on the box.

  10. Serve with the marinated onions!
